The Xi-Scape Pergola offers a natural pathway and creates usage through its architecture.
Long walls supporting the roof invite the audience to walk along them, as it becomes the foundation for the benches on the other side.
Different levels of ceilings are used in the system to create subtle divisions between zones.
By composing various heights, orientations, and distances from one another, the pergola breaks up the monotony of space.
These slight shifts allow individuals to distance themselves from one another without entirely separating themselves.
The courtyard creates a subtle division within an open space and lets in natural light.
The goal is to suggest the function of residing through form, content, and composition rather than to dictate it.
